Small electrical plug-in heating units typically aren’t enough for cold temperatures and keeping your whole house/apartment warm enough, however, they are used to take the edge off the heat, or even just to warm up 1 room. The problem is that old furnace and HVAC units considered to be an less environmentally friendly and consume much more power, for the size they are and the heat they produce. Using these will in effect increase your monthly power bill - That’s the last thing anyone wants! If there is a problem with the ductwork in your home or place of residence, then the cost to repair your furnace unit or HVAC system may become more expensive. This will depend on the size and scope of the damage to the ductwork, and will be more costly than simply repairing the furnace unit itself. Consider that there might be the teardown and fix up of the finish on your wall. That might include the sheet metal ductwork or the drywall and paint. Not to though worry as this is the least common problem that we face when working with furnace service repairs.
This is actually quite simple. Depending on which type of furnace you're using whether it's gas forced air or electric. Many people choose gas forced air because the cost of natural gas it typically much less expensive to run than an all electric unit.
Roughly 70% of all homes and commercial buildings use gas furnaces in their heating system. This means that the lions share of the units out there are gas now. Gas furnaces have been available on the commercial market for nearly 90 years now. They were first tested and fine-tuned in 1925. These furnaces work by igniting the natural gas through burners and a fan will blow fresh air through the flames. The burning flame will warm the air and it's then delivered to your room via ductwork and vents. Slower speeds of air -or- bigger flames will heat the air hotter before it's sent through the ductwork to the vairous rooms.
Similar to water heaters, electricity is used to heat metallic coils inside of the furnace. Just the same as natural gas furnaces, a fan will pull in fresh air and blow it over the heated coils, warming the air. Electric furnaces have been around since the late 1800's and became the next best solution as people started to replace wood-burning or coal burning stoves. The regular commercialization of electric furnaces didn't become popular until the late 1940's. This is a typical furnace solution for places that don't readily have natural gas (including propane) easily accessible.
This type of heating is becoming less and less common over time due to the high amount of electricity they use to heat the home and also because of the danger of having an accident with burns on your skin or other items in short proximity of the baseboard heater. It was common for homes built before the 1970's when central heating became a more popular and efficient way to heat a home. Baseboard heating units allow each individual room in your residence or office to be heated to individual desired temperatures. While less common, they can still be replaced and/or repaired. Call Air Design for any help you need with this type of heating.
The problem with the heat in your home could potentially be with the thermostat and not with the HVAC system itself. This is one of the least common problems to deal with as thermostats rarely have problems, even new digital and wireless models. If we find that the thermostat to your furnace is the case, then repair costs will be lower than having to fix the system or other furnace parts replacement. Air Design also services, repairs, installs, and replaces thermostats for just about any type of application. It's well known that the most popular way to heat and cool your home is with a central HVAC system. Most people don't realize that the air conditioning coils are also inside the furnace. Similar to the way your home is heated, freon is pumped through copper tubing coils placed inside the furnace unit and fresh air blown over those coils cools the air before it's distributed to your individual rooms. It's common to have problems with the fan that blows the air over both the heating coils, natural gas flames, and cooling coils alike. We bring up the point because the furnace is the central control unit for keeping your home heated and cooled. Hiring the right company who intimately knows furnaces will save you both time and money with your heating and cooling needs.
Many companies use different types of HVAC units for their business applications. You’ll find a higher percentage of businesses in the greater Spokane, WA area want to be as conservative as possible when it comes to energy costs. Commercial furnaces tend to be a little larger and handle a lot bigger stresses of raising or lowering the temperature of the commercial building. Air Design can handle any type of HVAC repair or service that is needed.
